Now there are over 100 Sundance’s going on yearly on his reservation of Pine Ridge alone, as it is the most sacred of the seven sacred rites given to the Lakota people.

He believed that the first step in healing his people was to bring them back to themselves with Lakota values. He spent his life doing this. They were both Heyoka (doing thing backwards). He felt his people were ready for a spiritual book from a Lakota mind. This book was to help his people.
